BUCKS YOUTH DANCE COMPANY

Bucks Youth Dance Company is an exciting new performance company welcoming young dancers age 12-19 with exceptional passion for dance to join this high quality training programme dedicated to investing in dancers of the future. During weekly rehearsals, dancers will develop technical, creative and performance skills by engaging in contemporary practices and choreography led by industry professionals. In addition to developing the dancer as a performing artist, participants will explore all aspects of the industry relevant to dance artists of today, including moving, making, working in participatory settings, and behind the scenes i.e. technical and design. What’s special about this training programme is that dancers will work collaboratively and engage with all aspects of the dance making process both within and beyond the dance studio. This is the perfect performance company to compliment any young dancer’s existing training (such as at school, GCSE, A Level, BTEC, RAD, ISTD, IDTA, competition and festival dance).

Across the year, dancers will participate in a minimum of three performances such as U.Dance, Honeycomb Festival and Buckinghamshire New University’s Dance Show. We support young dancers in pursuing their goals by ensuring further education, higher education, and conservatoire training pathways are accessible, by offering Arts Award (optional), and placement opportunities. In addition to weekly training, the dancers will work with guest artists and attend trips to performances.

Bucks Youth Dance Company is developed in association with Buckinghamshire New University and co-led by Pippa Fisher-Coldwell and Louise Kelsey. Special thanks to Lauren Vincent, Senior Lecturer and Course Leader at Buckinghamshire New University.
